So yeah. Ummmm. I kinda sorta restarted a book club last week. I’ve had this strong urge to read more books, especially ones by African Americans. I needed to challenge myself. I mainly read motivational books and spiritual ones, but I want to be a little more adventurous and read some memoirs and fiction as well. Kind of like an escape to another world. Anyways…..I decided that I would reboot my old book club and come up with something to inspire African American women. I decided to name is Book Girl Magic. The primary focus will be books by African American authors, but it will also be open to other occasional books outside of that. I’m super stoked to have begun this adventure. The ladies and I have already chosen the books that will close out the remainder of the year. November we are currently reading The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl by Issa Rae and for December we will be reading We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union. Super excited to dive into these books. I finally finished another book that I was reading so I’m now able to dive into Issa’s book. Looking forward to the change from the seriousness that I’ve been reading to having a little fun and laughter.
