Our FIRST Family Vacation :: Savannah, Georgia

Happy 3 Month Birthday to my Babies!

Wait!

Ummmmmmm.

Yeah…

3 months?

Already?

WTHECK?

Where is the pause button (Heck, I’ll even take a rewind button at this point)?

OK…yes I’m being a bit of a DRAMA QUEEN, but I loving every minute of life right now and I just want to hang on to these moments for as long as I can.

Anywho, we took the babies on their first EVER vacation to Savannah, Georgia this past weekend. We knew we wanted to go to a beach, but we didn’t want to drive more than 4.5 hours to get there. 1. because the babies are still young and we didn’t want them in the car for too long (we didn’t know how long they would last before the fussiness kicked in) and 2. Savannah is a place we have fallen in love with and have been dying to go back to.

The trip went really well. On both car rides (there and back) the kids didn’t wake up until the last hour or so. They are getting so good with their sleeping patterns these days. And apparently (compared to all my other friends experiences with their newborns) I am really blessed to have two good sleepers on my hands.

While in Savannah, we explored downtown (ate ay Huey’s and explored the shops) and also took the babies to Tybee Island for their first beach experience. Tatum wasn’t feeling the slightly cold water or the wet sand. Tenley on the other hand LOVED the wet sand between her toes. We only lasted about 30 minutes at the beach (not including the 30 minutes it took me to set up our things and pack them back up) because it was 106 degrees outside. Just my luck….we pick the one weekend with record breaking temperatures to go to the beach. Needless to say, they started crying because the humidity was so thick and we all couldn’t breath! I. Don’t. Blame. Them.

I was kind of diappointed because I didn’t get many pictures of them on the beach before I had to go all tazmanian devil and pack up all of our belongings while trying to tend to two tired, hot-screaming babies.

Once in the car. All was right in the world again. 😀

I convinced the hubby to take us back to the beach Sunday morning. It was cloudy and didn’t feel as hot, so I figured it would be a great time to go. I was right. This beach outing was a heck of a lot more pleasant than the day before. We didn’t go for water time and lounging, we went strictly to take pictures. We got a TON of good ones. It was so worth the trip going back. We even had a stranger come up to us asking if she wanted us to take a few pictures of all 4 of us…and OF COURSE I said yes! I’ll be posting those pictures of the family in the next couple days.

I captured the majority of this trip via iPhone and instagram, because it was easy. Managing two babies in this 106 degree Georgia heat was enough to deal with, so I did what I do best! ;D

Anywho…enjoy the pictures of our first family vacation! 😉

Our road trip begins! =)

We stopped for lunch at The Sweet Potato Kitchen. The claim to have “The World’s Best Banana Pudding!” I make a mean banana pudding myself and I have to say that theirs was pretty darn good. Kudos

This banana pudding is supposed to be "world famous!" We shall see.

After we got refreshed at the hotel, we went and explored downtown Savannah

We ate a delicious lunch at Huey’s. Fried Green tomatoes, shrimp and red beans and rice, and topped it off with some beignets with a peacan caramel sauce

The heat called for a refresher from Wet Willies

Looks like a blast! I’m glad you were able to capture this moment. You will need to with time passing as quickly as it does. With a little one (or little ones) time just doesn’t slow down 🙁 Each phase is a great phase 🙂
