Valentine Smalentine

When I was a little girl, I enjoyed everything about Valentine’s Day.  I would spend hour upon hour creating the coolest looking shoe box for my classmates to drop their personalized Valentine’s in on Valentine’s Day. It was the one day where girls didn’t have cooties and the boys would treat us nicely. It’s actually kind of funny now that I think about it. Can’t wait to see my kids go through these stages as well.

The past couple of months, we’ve been attending 12Stone Church. The latest series has been on marriage and Walt and I have truly learned a lot. In fact, we even renewed our vows yesterday (hehehe). To make a long story short, I can not explain how valuable the lessons in each sermon were. We learned so much about ourselves as individuals, and as a couple. Past experiences in our relationship which may have seemed like a road block back then, now made complete sense. It’s amazing. With God by our side, we were able to get through the tough times and become what we are today.

One of the major things that we learned in the past few weeks, was to keep the fun and passion in our relationship. Remembering to date each other and never lose sight of what initially made us fall in love with each other. With that said, we make it a habit to recognize our love for one another on a daily basis rather than on a calendar basis. That’s what works best for us. I’m sure we will acknowledge the holiday, but not in the traditional sense that most couples do. We are just thankful to have each other and for the even bigger blessings that we have coming in April!

There are 3 things I hope people get from this post:

  1. Remember to date
  2. Continue to recognize your love for each other on a daily basis…even if it’s just something simple like saying “I Love You”
  3. Make your own rules! Each couple is different. Do what works for you and your special someone! 🙂

Hope you all have a great V-Day!!! Give the gift of love — afterall, it’s FREE!!!
