A couple weeks ago, we found out the sexes of our babies! To be exact, we found out on November 23, the day before Thanksgiving! We wanted to share the message with our family in a special way. A baker friend of mine suggested a reveal cake. A reveal cake is basically a cake in which the inside is colored blue or pink (or both) based on what the sex of the baby is! Well……with us finding out less than 24 hours away from Thanksgiving Day, we didn’t have time to get one professionally made. We then decided to take matters into our own hands. We decided to make our own reveal cake and I am excited to say that it was a big hit among the family.

We told everyone about the cake upon our arrival so that the anticipation would build up. After dinner, we gathered the family around for the big reveal. The kids were especially excited to find out what their great cousins would be. As Walt began to make the first cut my aunt yelled out….”IT’s A BOY!!!!” Not so fast Auntie Heather……lol

As he continued to cut the first piece….we revealed that we are having a boy AND a girl! I have to say that this is truly the work of God. All of my prayers have been answered and it further has justified my religious beliefs. God is amazing in so many ways.

A while back, I had always said that if God were to bless me with twins, please let him do it on the first pregnancy. We only wanted 2 little ones, so what more can you ask for when you get it in the first shot? The second thing that I prayed for was for the babies to be a boy and a girl. That way we’d get the best of both worlds. A boy to carry on the Hicks name, and a girl to do all that fun girly stuff with. I couldn’t be happier with the way things panned out.

God could not be more real to me right now. Ask and you shall receive rings so true….BUT it has to be on his time. Prayer is so powerful people and my husband and I can attest to that! We had so much to be thankful for on this past Thanksgiving!
